Porthcawl staff are:
Mrs Rees, Miss Mutter, Mrs Pritchard and Mrs Owens.
Welcome back!
We hope that you had a lovely Summer Break! Your children have settled back into school smoothly and are already enjoying being back in school. Our first topic this term is ‘Marvellous Me and my Family’; a skills letter will be sent out soon explaining some of the skills and activities planned for this topic – look out for it! All classes in school have changed their class names. We had to choose a place in Wales. Your children decided to become Porthcawl. We will plan to visit Porthcawl with the class very soon, so they can actually see it for themselves if they haven’t already done so with you! We would encourage you to visit Porthcawl as a family and if you are able to do this, we would love to see the photos on dojo to share with the class.
Important Information
*Please bring reading books/bags into school on a Monday. Please make sure reading books and records are in a reading bag or folder. Your child reads every day during ‘Read Write Inc’ sessions and weekly with the Class Teacher and Teaching Assistants on a Monday. A new book will be sent home when we feel your child is ready for a new book.
*Dojo: Our Class Dojo page is up and running as it was last year. Check this regularly as we may communicate with each other on here every day.
*Spelling: Spelling words or sounds will be sent home when they are ready for new words or sounds. This will not be on a specific day. They will be expected to learn them at home as well as in school.
*Snack time: Snack money is £1 each week or 20p a day. You can pay larger sums if it helps and we will keep it in a safe place for your child to have each day. If your child does not pay we will unfortunately not be able to supply it ourselves. If you would prefer to send in your own snack that is fine, as I know some children do not enjoy the healthy school choices. This can be crackers, crisps, cereal bars, biscuits, popcorn etc.
*Cookery: Cookery is now monthly. Cookery money is £5 for the term (£15 for the year). No child will be left out, but I please ask you send this in to cover the costs or future lessons may have to be cancelled.
*Outdoor Learning: Focused outdoor learning will now be monthly but we will be using the outdoors as often as we can for other things like PE, Well-being, reading etc. Please send in wellies if we do not already have a pair.
*Library visits: A very exciting weekly visit! We will be visiting Trallwn library every week. This will be every Tuesday and your child will borrow a book to enjoy at home. Please return this the following Tuesday.
*PE: PE is on a Tuesday. The children will need shorts/joggers, a t-shirt and trainers. Kits must be worn to school so they do not need to change. It would be great if they could be dressed in their team colour for PE.
*If your child is ill or absent from school, then please inform the school on the first day of absence or message me on Dojo.
If you have any questions or queries then please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help you. We are always here to have a chat with you and to help you and your child.
